Increase the attractiveness of the cooperation area through Green Parks
The consortium, led by the National Park Őrség from Hungary, will develop 9 green parks and accommodation capacities with the help of development funds worth one million Euros, and additionally perform the complex development of eco-tourist services in the Slovenian-Hungarian border area. The development elements will focus on a healthy lifestyle and exercise and contribute to the development of tourism and improvement of the quality of life of the local population.
The Green Exercise Project is the first one to be co-financed by the Cross-border cooperation programme Slovenia-Hungary Interreg V-A and start in the autumn of 2016. Four Slovenian and four Hungarian partners are participating in the project in order to jointly promote the existing cross-border cultural and natural tourist offer.
Consortium members:
Centre for Health and Development Murska Sobota
Public institution Goričko Nature Park
Municipality of Dolnji Senik
National Park Őrség,
Municipality of Moravske Toplice,
Municipality of Sakalovci,
Municipality of Šalovci,
Development Agency Slovenska krajina.
The project partners seek to jointly promote the existing cross-border cultural and natural tourist offer of the Slovene-Hungarian border area, complementing them with a special emphasis on a healthy lifestyle, a sustainable and environmentally friendly model of transport (especially cycling).
We are planning to create "Green Parks" on both sides of the border at nine locations, expanding the service offerings of the visiting centres, working on the development of attractions that are related to natural values, folk traditions and new accommodation capacities.
We will organize an educational programme at the cross-border level, with a uniform approach and methodology, which will be implemented in the Slovenian and Hungarian languages (language training, upgrading knowledge in the field of cultural heritage, cycling guides, healthy lifestyle and management).
Existing cultural and natural tourist elements will be combined with cycling and hiking trails with the development elements that we plan within the project, into tourist packages.
The goal of the project is to extend the duration of the visitors' stay in the cooperation area, which will also have a positive impact on the lives of local residents.
